CVS PentaPower were contacted by Wayne Lees at IVSS Marine based in Sandwich, Kent after their client in Naples, Italy ran into difficulty with a 3rd party engine supplier in Italy.

After in-depth communications with IVSS Marine the best option for the end client moving forward was to offer a D2-40 Sail Drive Repower Package for their clients boat – Jalfrezi.

Due to logistical issues, prior to the project start date we had to make 100% sure that the engine repower package would fit into Jalfrezi without any problems. We accomplished this with numerous conversations with IVSS Marine and scrupulous checking of datasheets to ensure that the new engine and sail drive package would be a like for like replacement. This would ensure a smooth installation and piece of mind for the end user throughout the project.

Time restrictions meant it was imperative that the engine package arrived in Naples, Italy to coincide with the removal of Jalfrezi into the dry dock and for the arrival in Naples of the installation team arriving from the UK.

The engine package was ordered in good time, delivered to Northern Italy and from there collected and delivered by a dedicated delivery vehicle to Sudcantieri Marina to ensure the installation project started on time.

The beautiful Sudcantieri Marina is set in the midst of the breathtaking scenery of Rione Terra where architectural buildings are made of the local volcanic tuff stone, looking out onto the Gulf of Pozzuoli and the islands of Ischia and Procida.

Due to a good relationship with their existing client, IVSS Marine carried out the repower installation, with the CVS PentaPower technical team on hand 24 hours a day to offer assistance if it was required. Careful Project Management from an experienced team ensured that the removal of the old engine and the installation of the repower kit ran smoothly without any issues.

Following installation of the engine and sail drive package our CVS PentaPower Volvo trained commissioning engineer flew to Naples to carry out the sea trial and engine commissioning. After a successful 3 hour sea trial the engine was signed off and the happy client was able to leave Naples to next day in the rejuvenated Jalfrezi heading for Rome.

Wayne Lee’s, IVSS Marine Sandwich, Kent: It was a pleasure to work with Richard Allen and John Brown at CVS PentaPower. Richard’s communications and help including afterhours support was fantastic. John, their commissioning engineer gave a friendly, efficient and professional service which included him flying to Naples, Italy and back to make sure everything was in order for our client and to carry out the commissioning of the new package. A big thank you to CVS PentaPower and all the staff involved on this project. IVSS MARINE will be more than delighted to continue working with CVS PentaPower on future projects.

Richard Allen, CVS PentaPower: Logistically this project was a challenge, myself based in Kent and Wayne in Naples’s kept in constant communication to ensure the correct repower package was designed, delivered and installed for Jalfrezi. It has been a pleasure to work alongside Wayne on this project and the package was commissioned without any faults or issues. CVS PentaPower hopes that Jalfrezi and her owner have many years of trouble free sailing ahead.
